Industry Filter

The Industry filter targets companies based on the sector they operate in. It has three fields that let you combine broad industry selection with keyword-level precision.

Filter Fields

Industry

Select one or more industries from the dropdown. This is the primary field - search for a category and select it to include all companies in that vertical.

Include company keywords

Add keywords that must appear in the company description or profile. Use this to narrow results within a broad industry - for example, selecting the "Technology" industry and adding the keyword "cybersecurity" to find only tech companies focused on security.

Exclude company keywords

Add keywords to remove companies whose description contains those terms. Use this to filter out sub-sectors you do not want - for example, excluding "recruitment" from a Staffing industry search to avoid staffing agencies if you only want HR tech companies.

How to Use It

  1. Open Lead Finder and go to the Company filters section

  2. Click on Industry

  3. Select one or more industries from the dropdown

  4. Optionally add Include or Exclude keywords to refine the results

Industry vs. LinkedIn Industry

Prospi has two industry filters:

  • Industry - Prospi’s classification based on enriched company data. Broader categories, good coverage.

  • LinkedIn Industry - The industry the company self-selected on LinkedIn. More granular, but depends on what the company chose.

Use the keyword fields in the Industry filter when you need more precision than the industry dropdown alone provides.

Tips

  • Combine industry + keywords: Broad industry selection + a specific Include keyword is often more powerful than trying to find the perfect industry category

  • Use Exclude to clean results: If a broad industry brings in companies you do not want, add Exclude keywords instead of rebuilding the filter from scratch

  • Scan your list: After building a list, check the first 30-50 leads to confirm the industry mix matches your ICP before saving
