Job Title Filter

The Job Title filter lets you search for leads based on what their role is called. It is one of the most direct ways to reach the exact decision-maker you are targeting.

How It Works

Enter one or more keywords and Prospi will return people whose job title contains those words. The search is flexible - it matches partial words, so "sales" will return "Sales Manager", "Head of Sales", "VP of Sales", and similar titles.

How to Use It

  1. Open Lead Finder and go to the Person filters section

  2. Click on the Job Title field

  3. Type your target title or keyword (e.g. "CEO", "Founder", "Marketing Director")

  4. Add multiple titles to broaden your search - results will include anyone matching any of the titles you enter

Excluding Job Titles

You can also exclude specific job titles from your results. This is useful when a broad keyword returns roles you do not want to target.

In the Job Title filter, use the Exclude field to enter titles that should be removed from results. For example:

  • Searching "marketing" but want to exclude interns: add Intern, Trainee, Coordinator to the Exclude field

  • Targeting sales leaders but not individual contributors: add Sales Representative, Account Executive, SDR, BDR

  • Searching "director" but excluding non-decision-makers: add Art Director, Creative Director if those are outside your ICP

Tips for Better Results

  • Use common variations: The same role can have many titles. A "VP of Sales" might also be called "Sales Director", "Head of Sales", or "Chief Revenue Officer". Add all relevant variations to avoid missing leads.

  • Keep it broad when targeting a function: If you want all marketing decision-makers, search "marketing" rather than listing every possible marketing title.

  • Narrow with seniority: If you only want senior people in a function, combine Job Title with the Seniority Level filter rather than trying to list every senior title manually.

  • Avoid overly generic terms: Words like "manager" alone will return too broad a set. Combine with a department or industry filter to keep results focused.

Common Examples

  • Founders and CEOs: Founder, Co-Founder, CEO, Chief Executive

  • Sales leaders: VP of Sales, Sales Director, Head of Sales, Chief Revenue Officer

  • Marketing: CMO, Marketing Director, Head of Marketing, VP Marketing

  • Operations: COO, Operations Director, Head of Operations

Pro tip: After filtering a lead list, review the first 20-30 leads and check whether the job titles match your ICP. If you are seeing off-target roles, narrow the job title keywords or combine with additional filters.
